"For Beauty, For Fame" ~~ a candid remix artcle/essay o.o
Admiration taken far can be deadly, poisonous to one's mind, causing one to do things that may be against their values. One example of this can be examine in the highly publicize disengagement of Crystal Harris to the ever prolific Playboy, Hugh Hefner. She didn't speak much about her disengagement, which caused the media to find other people, who can give them more information; this spiral of curiosity lead the media to spread false rumors about her.
On Monday, Crystal came on the view to shed some light on her disengagement. She was seated in the middle of the group of woman who co-hosted the show. One of them, Joy Behar, was the first to ask a question that was related to a huge rumor, which was about Crystal Harris running off with the 90k ring and thus made her seemingly in it for the money. Crystal replied, "well, I was intrigued by the whole Playboy life style. And um growing up I'd look up Playboy magazines- and you know, I was insecure and so I thought, could I ever be that girl, could I ever be a playmate.".
That quote from her is a great indicator to what provoked her into marrying Hugh Hefner, which was mainly influence by her admiration for playboy. This admiration that was unfortunately taken far from rationality, made me think back to my youth years. When I was a young girl, I loved being admired and associated admiration to as being loved. I was admired mostly for my beauty. Everywhere I go, people would give me stickers or say I was really pretty. So, being admired for my beauty lead me to think that it was love. I soon wanted this admiration from my many boyfriends during my teen years. Little did I know, that what was consider beauty to them was something I consider "yuck".
For sure, admiration changed for me as do for many young girls, who viewed admiration as to love. I adapted to this new admiration from my boyfriends and it ultimately made me do the "swung". I was now in a spot of even more confusion. The confusion of beauty, body, love, and respect. Maybe this little admiration that Crystal had as a little girl, from those pretty ladies in Playboy had lead her onto confusion as well.
All in all, it seem like Playboy twisted beauty and fame up for her and probably for youths everywhere. Moreover, the fame and beauty in Playboy was done up as something prestigious- something to live up to.
This lead me to ponder on the fact of how beauty pull fame in this media frenzy society. I mean how did this worked so well? This equation "beauty to fame" worked with deception and truth; deception was used to twist the truth of beauty in the media, adding fame to make the deceptive beauty appear more true. Cuteness
Cuteness is simply depicted as something harmless, lovable, and small; having said that, Hello kitty is innocently white and five apples tall, which obviously set her on the line of cuteness. Some evolutionist theorized that young human beings retain a somewhat "cute" appearance that cause adults to take good care of young human beings. Putting the whole facts together, I guess that is how cuteness came to be.
Since, the color pink is commonly used in cute products and I'm a fan of all things pink and cute, I decided to make a collage that embodies cuteness.
Let's be honest boys can be cute too.. go blue!
A little known fact: "cute" originated from the word "acute" and was used as a slang for describing pretty things.

Late at night, I was watching a documentary about Elvis Presley's life during the summer of 1956 and in there I found that he had a pink Cadillac; he was someone who was well ahead of his time in fashion and also as a whole, I thought to myself, then I had this curiosity about what more traveling did the color pink did throughout history.
170 A.D??: Catholics uses pink candles on the 3rd Sunday of December. The color pink, also called rose during those time, represent as an emotion filled with joy and happiness.
17th century: The color name "pink" was depicted from a flower called "Pinks".
1817: Henri Marie Ducrotay de Blainville was the first zoologist that described pink dolphins in the Amazon River.

Anime Scan Retouch/Fix in Gimp
Warning: The automatic technique mentioned in here, can improve the image color, or it can make the image bad.. If so, then just stick to manual techniques.
Here is a easy way to fix your scans in gimp! This way will revamp the colors in your anime scan, smooth out your whites and blacks.
Step 1: Filters > Selective Gaussian Blur max. delta must not be above 10.. your aim is to smooth the image color without losing details. Leave blur radius at 5.00 too~ Press okay once you got a minimal effect.
Step 2: Go to filters > enhance > unsharpen mask.. Radius: 5 amount: no more than .2 threshold: between 20 through 30...
Step 3: colors > auto > white balance
Step 4: colors > auto > color enhance

How to make a anime wallpaper in Gimp
A hobby that I wanted to pursue for long time was graphic design, moreover making an anime wallpaper. During my summer vacation I spent most of the time researching and learning how to make a nice wallpaper. After learning how to use gimp (image editing program) and mastering some cool techniques; I thought it was time to submit some of my anime wallpaper to this anime website.
Sadly, my wallpaper got rejected. I thought my work of art was great but the critics would opposed to that. So, I submitted another one and it soon got rejected. Now, I was wondering what could be wrong with my anime wallpapers. I then looked back at what the rejector wrote, he/she said either the wallpaper was too blurry or the image quality was too low; I went to ask some of friends for their opinion on my wallpaper and sure enough they saw the same mistake. Seeing that I needed more improvement, I decided to learn how to solve my mistakes through watching gimp tutorial videos and reading articles about photo retouching.
Well, I didn't submit any more wallpaper to that site, but I gather all of my information on how to make an good anime wallpaper in here. I hope this tutorial will help you in becoming a better wallpaper maker~
TUTORIAL:
Tools I will be using/referring.. Note: You should have a reddish or contrast background color from your background as a layer below the image you are working with.
Green: Fuzzy selection tool
Pink: Scissors select tool
Red: Eraser tool
Blue: Blur/sharpen tool
Brown: Tool options
Black: Layers
Image Retouching
Your aim to make the entire wallpaper to look well balance with no jagged lines, pixel, over saturated colored, over exposed, etc.
Step 1: File > new > template > 1024x768..Oh, I forgot to change 72.00 to 300 x and y resolution pixel/in. ... Copy an image you want to serve as a main focus to your wallpaper. The image below is the original image I'm working with.
Step 2: Paste the image as "new layer".
Step 3: Use the scissors select tools to cut the image out. I used the fuzzy select tool to cut my image out since the background was a pure color.
Step 4: Erase any specs floating around the image, don't worry yet about the fuzzy/harsh boarder around your image. I used the erase tool to erase some of the white background that got is in between the hairs of the characters. (Tip: Use the Zoom tool to zoom in the image when erasing anything that lies close to your image and or in between stuff.)
Step 5: Check your image for any more specs or background you need to erase.
Step 6: Left click your image layer to select it and then right click it so a menu will show up then left click alpha to selection in the menu > go to select located on the top bar> left click shrink for choose 1 pixel or more depends on the thickness of your image outline > go to select on the top bar then left click on feather choose 2 through 3 pixel > go to select on the top bar then left click invert > go to edit on the top bar choose cut > select none
Step 7: Erase any other specs in between the hairs (tip: on the tool options you can adjust the eraser size by playing with its scale.)
Step 8: Using the scale tool you can enlarge your image, enlarge an image so it look balance with the wallpaper. (Tip: use the perspective tool to stretch the image a little if you feel like it looks platter onto the background.)
Step 9: BEFORE ANY PROCEEDING..Do whatever design you want for your image then continue. This part tell you how to make your image look high quality.. You will have to play with for the best image result for your image.. I will tell you what numbers I plugged in.

(OPTIONAL: Follow steps 3 and 4 in this link ... it may help your image color to be more balance or may make it worser.. if so then just stick to manual technique.)
Image should be neat and nice.. So this process is done, time to start working with the background.
Step 11: Choose any background or make one out of your own craft.. Do the same as the background as you did for your image.
Step 12: Once you are satisfied with what you have then right click one layer and left click on merge visible layer.
Step 13: Save your wallpaper as .jpg with 100% quality
Bada beam bada boom! This tutorial is done and you should have a pretty nice wallpaper but I would like to address some of the problems that you may run into.
When you enlarge any image, you will damage some parts of the image like getting jagged lines and blurness. Sometimes you fix the image with the things I told you in here but sometimes it just far from repair. Your next option is to draw the entire image out by using the path tool and then painting the image like how to original is.

A very pinky obsession #7
Hajime Kanzaka is a writer, who describes characters in a very whimsical way. His work is found on manga pages with Rui Araizumi illustration. I haven't read his mangas, only his then turned anime works. My favorite have to be "Slayers" :D almost done with the entire anime series.

Twisted Style
Sweet Lolita is a style consisting of pink hues and fruit patterns. There are many types of lolita style based on the clothing theme. Here is my take of Sweet Lolita style, toned down verison XD.. Well, it is hard finding sweet lolita clothings in the states.
